Balance and strength activities are not separate and discrete from the rest of the persons daily life but are embedded into participant’s daily tasks and routines. To do this people need to change their everyday habitual routines in how they do some things.
Activities are taught in the context of where they will be done, for example, in the kitchen, bathroom, garden, and at the front steps.
Bending down to the ground to pick up your washing is a high-level LiFE activity. Val achieved this gradually over time with small knee/hip bends to begin. For most people the Bend at the knees LiFE activity does not need to be a low squat, but just done as often as they can during the day. LiFE is also about finding the just right challenge for each person.
The participants become their own therapist.
