- ask them to write their action plan and then to visualise themselves performing the action in context (Holland, 2006; Adriaanse, 2018)
- mentally binding actions to anticipated contexts (Webb & Sheeran 2007)

- Visualising – it is best if the person writes their own action plan and then visualises themselves dong it (Holland, 2006) – a study by Holland I found back in 2006 was useful (recycling waste paper in office –when recycling was not common– tested 5 variations but worked best when they included mental imagery of doing the task. This study was developed with Aarts – one of the early habit theorists and Visualisation is still considered today as a very useful technique for habit formation
- Visualising acts as an additional way of mentally binding actions to specific contexts (Webb & Sheeran 2007)
- Visualisation and mental imagery is not new to the world of elite sports. (sam kerr Matilda’s )
– its kind of like using mental imagery as ‘a rehearsal’ (Knauper 2011 in Adriaanse )
