Forming habits

INSERT DIAGRAM

  • This is how  we have conceptualisd Habit change in our LiFE functional-integrated exercise program.
  •  First, articulating an action plan and then visualising doing it within a specific situation.
  •  In repetition we begin to associate the environmental or situational cue with the action.
  •  If done enough times to strengthen the association between the cue and the action then it becomes automatic.
  • Habit  may initially be triggered by having an action plan, but over time that conscious planning becomes less necessary and the action can become more automatic.
